Scam #1: Dirty filter rook
A favorite among many crooks is the dirty filter
gig. Whenever a vehicle owner brings their car in for maintenance or a needed
repair service, odds are that the mechanic will quickly point out that your air
filter is filthy. This is tricky because the mechanic will sometimes refer to
the filter that keeps debris and dust away from the vital moving parts of the
engine, or he can also be referring to the air filter for the cabin which is
hooked up to the HVAC unit of the car. This system is in charge of cleaning the
air that goes through the vents and into the automobile.
Whichever the case may be, the repair mechanic
will then brandish a dirty black filter. The catch? It is likely not even yours.
